SPH Presents: Concerts in the Chapel with Tommy Luke

Doors: 6pm, Show 7pm

This edition of Concerts in the Chapel is really special. We are blessed to have a number of truly wonderful and unique artists in our area and this one is not to be missed! This is a BYOB show, and as usual, a pickin' party is likely to break out after the show, so instruments are welcome! Complementary beverages available while supplies last.

This ramblin' Texan is a witty singer-songwriter with a love for old traditional folk & country music. His signature sound reminisces the early work of Bob Dylan with an added twang similar to Willie Nelson & Jerry Jeff Walker. Based in Fort Worth, Texas, singer-songwriter Tommy Luke’s songs recall the dusty, well-worn sounds of western music. His earthy voice drives the narrative of songs such as “The Ground,” “I Don’t Know (I Had It All)” and “Oklahoma Hula Hoopin’ Angel” with a confidence and honesty that recalls Kris Kristofferson’s best, early work. You might be forgiven for thinking that his work emerged from an earlier time in music. It’s unencumbered by the trappings of contemporary music and free of the irony that some bring to traditional music. This is to say that there’s an undeniable appeal to the songs that populate his album Life Ain’t Hard and his live shows. Tommy Luke is a must-see songwriter!

Southside Preservation Hall and Southside Preservation Association are supported in part by a grant from Arts Fort Worth.
