SPH Presents: Concerts in the Chapel with Pat Byrne
Doors 6pm, Show 7pm
Our current resident artist, Pat Byrne, is back with us this month and that’s a cause for celebration! This man is the real deal when it comes to telling a story with a beautifully sung song. Just to prove the beautifully sung part, Pat was crowned the winner of the first series of The Voice of Ireland, and they probably knew what they were about with that decision. We are very lucky to have him with us on a monthly basis now, so come and hang out with him and take advantage of our full bar service, and the pickin’ party afterward. Instruments welcome!
An Irish singer songwriter from Borris, County Carlow in Ireland, Pat Byrne has come a long way since his first deal with Universal. In late 2017, Byrne began his migration to Austin, Texas. In 2019, Pat took the US by storm, with breakout performances at the 30A Festival, SXSW, Kerrville Folk Festival and the Americana Festival. Being immersed in the Texas music scene, Pat's sophomore US release, Into the Light, has an edgier feel underscoring both emotional depth and greater confidence, while blending new influences with his rich Irish heritage.
“When you combine the transcendent poetry of Bob Dylan with the gritty, real-world rock-n-roll storytelling Bruce Springsteen made so famous, and add a dash of the political activism embodied by Woody Guthrie and Pete Seeger, you’ll have Irish singer-songwriter Pat Byrne.” - Folk Alley at 30A Songwriters Festival
